Well, being a teen in the recession, we might have small closets. Or we couldve had small closets for the longest time ever since we were born. Whether it's a walk-in where only your 2 year odl brother could walk into, or a little space on the wall, or even a couple drawers, these tips should help.
Ok, i have a small dresser about as wide as 2 of me, and no, i'm not such a massive person. It has no shelves, since my genious cousin sat on it in a great game of hide-and-seek since he was talking on the phone. It has one hanger rack thinga majig lol idk what its called. and i have 2 plastic drawers that i have inserted for extra storage.
FIRST THINGS FIRST: Take out ALL your clothes. Not just a couple ALL of them. This way, you can find what you need, what you dont wear, and stuff that your grandma sent you 6 christmases ago.
Fold all your clothes and while doing that keep seperate piles. here's my organization piles
One for t-shirts (since i have a lot), one for jeans (i have a handful.), one for other bottoms, one for fancier tops/party tops, one for dresses/sweaters/anything you have to hang, one for pajamas or house clothes, one for underwear, and one for the stuff you don't really care for.
**Your list can vary depending on what kinda of clothes you wear.**
Now to start throwing things away..or giving it away. Take the clothes you don't really care for or that don't fit you (let's not be in denial now) and put them in a plastic bag. This can get it out of your way for just a little bit. If you have a little sister/brother or a little cousin or friend, give some of the nicer clothes to them, but make sure that they like it first, cuz it'd just end up back in your hands and into the trash. It won't really help the landfills get smaller.
Find out how you can fit your clothes into your dresser. If you have anything that should be hung, put them on a hanger and hang them somewhere. If theres a family coat-rack, put your sweaters there. Dresses shouldn't be folded since they're more delicate than others, put them on a hanger if you have some place to hang them. If not, you could look into installing or buying simple hooks that go on easily, and you can place them anywhere you'd like.
Since i had 2 plastic drawers, i stacked one on top of the other. I put my unmentionables in one, and my pajamas and house clothes in the other, so i don't have to dig just to find something to sleep in. As for the rest of them, i seperated button-ups from regular t-shirts, making it easier for me to be more formal and mix and match things. I sadly had 3 stacks of t-shirts since i'm a t-shirt kinda gal, so i took up the whole right side with them, tightly but neatly in that corner. The button up's next to my stack of bottoms and jeans. I hung all my dresses and fancy tops and took out un-needed hangers. I shifted them all the way to the side to make it more roomy and put some un-used hangers to the side where theres no dresses hung, to make things easier since its tough to pull something out and it ends up stuck to the other hanger.
well that's how i organize my small closet, it can always vary with how big or small you closet or drawers or whatever you have are. Request any tips and tricks but in the meantime, ill think of my own.
